Doctors, Dissections, and Resurrection Men

Museum of London
Visited: 19/11/12

Oh for a tenth of their budget!!…
Interesting exhibition and it was quite obvious where the money had been spent. However, having seen a few anatomy exhibitions around the world (chiefly the USA and the Netherlands), I do feel it could have been done better: it was very slick and polished, but light on content. It went for the lowest common denominator and revelled in sensationalism and gore when it could have been a much more thoughtful project. The Wellcome Trust does it better! As does the Mutter Museum, Philadelphia, and also the Medical Museum in Leiden, Holland.

Interestingly, I have subsequently found out that the daughter of friends of mine is an anatomical artist and runs the Anatomy UK website. Some of the work on show is incredible!
